spare tire rack question

i am going to be puting a spare tire rack on my 98 4 door blazer ls on the rear hatch of my blazer i have the widow wiper that some of them have as an option i can take it off but i will fail mass inspection if they see that there is the shaft from the wiper motor but no arm its a dum law but whatever i would like to know is if the spare itre rack will clear the wiper arm so i dont have to take it off if it doesnt clear im going to just take it off but i would like to know wether or not it will clear frist

It should clear okay. I know you have a chance of it not working, but it shouldn't be a problem when doing the spare tire rack installation. As a matter of fact, i'll be putting mine on tomorrow. I had to paint it again and get rid of a few rust spots. The person to ask this question to, to double check is warthogdriver because he wrote a DIY guide to this.

No you don't need to take it off. I know a couple of people have reported that the wiper doesn't work after installing it but mine still works fine.
Your back glass won't open with the carrier latched. On 2dr blazers, the glass opens at a different angle and only hits the tire (they even make lowering kits to drop the tire enough for the glass to open) but on my 4dr, the glass actually hits the metal arm. I have to unlatch it and swing it out about 3" before the glass will open. Not that big of a deal in my opinion.
