Np 208 leaking how hard is it to put the seal in

Default Np 208 leaking how hard is it to put the seal in

got 208 transfer case leaking from where the two housing half met, leaking bad need to know if its some thing i can do or to put new seals in do i have to mess with the gears and forks in it, i know i can take it down and out my blazer just how hard is it to do and it gots a clocking kit any info will help me so i know if i can do it or take it to the shop

You are going to have to remove it and open it up. Clean up the surfaces and coat them with RTV. Let it tack up a bit then reassemble the halves. Reinstall it in the truck and allow it to set up for at least 12 hours (better if it can sit for 24hours) before putting fluid back into it.

ok i got that so i should be good and wont have to mess with any gears or forks at all do i have to take the yoke off to open it up or will it open up like a inch so i can fix it. also thanks for the quick response this is going to save me money

ok so found out that there is a crack in the housing of the transfer case rite next to where u bolt up the front drive line that is a bolt that screws in the case and i found the crack there is there anything i can do or what other kind of transfer case can i put on the trans is a 700r4 any help would help out alot thanks

If the casing is cracked, you should start looking for a replacement NP208.

thanks for the info have u heard of quiksteel do u think it will work for a bit so i can save up

You could try it, but you will have to get the area oil free before you apply it. The housing cracked for a reason. It likely won't get any better. Quik-steel may seal up the leak, but it could crack further if you use your 4wd.

thanks for the info il end up trying that for now and i cant use my 4x4 anyway there is some thing wrong with the front axle
