Default Problem: but which LEAF SPRINGS or SHOCKS ?

slid over a curb and now when I hit potholes or rough patches I get a thumping or knocking sound in rear and it its really a bad patch the rear feels really loose (up and down on both sides). I lifted her and didn't see anything out of place or broken although the bottom leaf on both sides does not clamp on to the other 2 leaves and separates when lifted. Bounced on rear corners and not much reverberation. Any ideas ?

It could be that you have worn spring bushings, or it could be that your rear wheel bearings are shot. Raise the back end, set it on jack stands and check to see if you can move your tire up/down or side to side. There should be absolutely no movement, any at all indicates worn bearings. Same with the springs, look where they mount and try to move them (you might need to use the jack or a helper), again more than a small amount of plat here indicates worn bushings.

Default Leaf spring bushings

So you get rear up with wheel off the ground and grab spring bushing and yank hard to see if you get too much movement (2 per side) ?

Wheel bearings I get.

Another thing that could be going on is the U-joint could be making the noise but again it all happened after I went up that curb.

You need to support the vehicle with jack stands and get under there to check for play, yes. A bad u-joint wouldn't cause the back end to feel loose.

Default I am also going to look at engine and transmission mounts

The looseness maybe exaggerated by all the knocking (noise) when i go over a rough patch.
