Default Best Snow-Only Tires

Hey guys, I'm looking to get some snow tires but I really have no idea which brand to get.

All winters I do a lot of driving through snow, not offroading though, and the tires I have would still be good for a few more summers, but not a winter. Once those go I'll probably pick up some BFG's, but for the time being, I need some snow tires.

So, what are your opinions on the best snow tires for daily driving on slippery snowy roads?

I bought a set of nokian hakkapelitta suv 5 235/60r17 this year. But we have a lot of ice (black ice) on the roads over here.

I have had great luck in the past with Firestone Winterforce tires. My Jimmy is the first vehicle I have not bought them for.

Just looked them up on Tirerack... I would go with the UV rather than the LT. There is a slight difference in the tread pattern, the UV is the pattern that I have used in the past.

Snow tires are great but they are very expensive so if you only want them for a winter or two until you get a set of new BFG's I would recomend you just go get the BFG's now. A good AT tire gets almost as good traction in the winter and you can run them year around and avoid costly change overs and storing a set of tires somewhere. I prefer the Goodyear Silent Armor's but a BFG would be a close second. I have them on my 1/2 ton truck and they are great in the winter.

Nokian also makes a winter tire that can be run year round (the Nokian WR) so you might want to look at those.
