Gonna be a good day!

Finally started on rebuilding the Durango front driveshaft. Got it all busted down, hope it goes back together smoothly

And the mail just came, the rest of my snorkel pieces just got delivered!

Think I'll take a break from the driveshaft, and work on the snorkel for a bit! I'll try to get a write up put together in the how to section later tonight

Other than having my buddy fab up a small bracket for the air filter housing, the snorkel is 100% complete! Even got the breather hose tapped in

How to thread coming later today, figure that'll make it easier for people to follow in the future than reading it in here

It is looking real sweet. I noticed your Blazer appears to barely clear that garage door or is that just the angle? Another simple question but assuming this is functional for a reason how do you go about making the wiring more robust to handle the expected swamping?

It clears the garage door, but not by much!

As far as regular wiring goes, I'm gonna put my faith in 25 year old weather pack connectors! For the ignition, I plan on packing the spark plug wires with dielectric grease to hopefully keep water out, and I'm going to silicone the distributor cap onto the distributor body. I've read if you do that, you need to run a vent into the cap. Need to do some more research on that.

Diff, trans, and tcase vents will be legnthened and routed as high as possible, as well.

Wish I could relocate the computer higher, but that's a task I'll pass on! Too many wires. And besides, for that to get wet, water is over the hood, and I'm in trouble anyway.

Don't forget to put a cover over the snorkel or it'll be the new high rise for wasps!

Never thought about that. Wonder if wasps being sucked into the engine would burn a valve lol

Not to go off topic, have you seen a show called "never ever do this at home", they convert a Ford into a vacuum...

Never heard of it, but seems like it would work fairly well. All an engine is is a big air pump, after all

Let the underhood waterproofing begin!

I know it's not gonna be a 100% waterproof solution, but it should definitely help seal up the electrical connections
