I think one would have to be a rocket scientist to think of something like that for a solution, I expect most people would just let the vehicle go faster and faster and then steer into some object to slow the vechile down and stop it.

that is true that you dont think about those things when you are in shock. who knows, maybe she was only 3 car lengths behind the car in front of her when it happened and had no time to think about anything.
But yes turning the engine off would be the best idea if that happened, or throwing it in neutral then turning the engine off before you red line and blow it apart, but that wouldnt even be a great idea because if its in neutral and you turn the key off you could turn it to far and lock the steering (i think), definitely cant if its still in drive tho.
Hindsight is always 20/20 tho..

Some of the comments in here are pretty funny, First off, I am glad she is ok, Second, Its easier said than done to say you would throw it into neutral, or turn the car off, but when the situation comes up, you panic..
